Slipped out by Buy.com a few weeks ago is Sandisk's TakeTV — an all-in-one media center solution. The concept of this pretty simple. You plug the 4GB or 8GB flash drive into your PC, load it up with content, plug it into the TakeTV and enjoy. The TakeTV lacks HD goodness, but it compensates for that by supporting codecs such as DivX and XviD that anyone can love. The 4GB model is now available for $100 and the 8GB model will set you back $50 more. To get more details be sure to check out our big and glorious hands-on review. [Buy.com]

This comes so close to hitting the mark for me that I might consider it just for the DivX capability alone.
At 8GB I would equate it to a 2GB player where the assumption is that you'd be reloading it with content fairly often as you get sick of what's on there.
I could see using this with a portable DVD player (if it has line-in capability) for the screen or good quality portable LCD display with speakers.
Why on earth would you pay $100 for this when you could get a Lacie Silver Screen with 40G storage for the same price. The Lacie supports almost all video formats including Divx.
It's perfect for travel. I have an 80G version and can load it with work files as well as 20-30 Divx movies. The VGA connections work on most hotel TVs. I'd have to carry a portable drive anyway, and it is sweet to travel with my own video store in my bag.
