Worf commented on Archos Gen-6 5G PMP is 3G Web Surfing, HD Video, Touchscreen Beauty, at 1:58 PM on Aug 20 The annoying thing with archos is they lock the device to the hard drive, so if the hard drive dies, you gotta RMA it (or replace it). Can't upgrade 'em either - device is locked to the disk. more » [gizmodo]

Worf commented on Archos Gen-6 5G PMP is 3G Web Surfing, HD Video, Touchscreen Beauty, at 2:33 PM on Aug 19 Hrm, not much improved over the 5th gen series that are immediately obvious, while the 5th gen had significant improvements over the 4th gen. E.g. more » [gizmodo]

Worf commented on Casino Royale Special Edition Is The First Second Blu-ray Double Dip, at 4:14 PM on Aug 14 Wouldn't Sony's Fifth Element be the first double-dip? After all, the first release was crap, then they released a re-mastered version that was supposedly much better. Not only did you buy a crappy low-def one the first time, but to get it right the second time around, you have to buy it again, this time to see it in glorious hi-def? more » [gizmodo]

Worf commented on OMG! Air Traffic Controller Helps Land Plane With SMS, at 4:24 PM on Aug 11 @aceofcakes: Actually, there already is a procedure. more » [gizmodo]

Worf commented on Quick Poll: Videos, at 1:54 PM on Aug 11 I voted for inside, less because of the bandwidth, but more for the CPU utilization. The internet is only sane to use when you have stuff like FlashBlock and NoScript installed - loading up tons of videos on the front page is just inviting people to download the front page in 1 second, then spend the next 30 while their (slow) PC grinds away loading all the flash content. Especially those players that aren't so considerate to wait for a click to play, but play instantly, or load... more » [gizmodo]

Worf commented on Dealzmodo: Sony's XEL-1 OLED TV In Sam's Club Bargain Bin For $1,748, at 12:54 PM on Aug 6 Yeah, they're nice. Looking at the image, it's hard to believe it's only Q1080p (quarter-1080p - 960x540). more » [gizmodo]

Worf commented on Asus R710 GPS with Head-Up Display Demoed on Video, at 2:50 PM on Aug 5 Actually, the HUD panel on jets is made of treated glass - it's a regular old CRT style tube (no polarization issues), aimed at a special glass that only reflects the wavelength of the display tube (which is why they're only shown in one color). more » [gizmodo]

Worf commented on Exploding Billboard Advertises by Destroying Advertisement, at 2:46 PM on Aug 5 @michaelleung: They weren't very big "explosions" - they're more of the small fireworks kind. more » [gizmodo]

Worf commented on iPhone 2.0 Jailbreak and Unlock Now for Windows, at 1:32 PM on Jul 24 You jailbreak each device individually, and it's easy to reverse. The jailbreak is per-device, so if you don't want to do one device, you don't have to jailbreak them all. To reverse it, just go to iTunes, and click "Restore". more » [gizmodo]

Worf commented on Periodic Coffee Table With Embedded Element Samples, at 1:08 PM on Jul 24 Naturally occurring plutonium and uranium ore isn't highly radioactive - you can actually handle it with your bare hands and not get sick. more » [gizmodo]

Worf commented on Why We Still Need the iPhone App Black Market, at 1:43 PM on Jul 23 Yes, I want my MXTube (fat chance you'll see that on AppStore - YouTube Download?) and my uXM (sure, there'll probably be an official one, but can it work over 3G/EDGE?). Dammit, where is installer.app for 2.0? more » [gizmodo]

Worf commented on iPhone Apps We Want To Like: A-Level Could Replace the Floating-Bubble Level, Soon, at 1:37 PM on Jul 23 99 cents? Why? Installer.app already has 3 or 4 of them, for free! more » [gizmodo]

Worf commented on Are Gadgets Getting Plainer or Will Crazy Hardware Design Come Back? The Experts Speak, at 1:21 PM on Jul 23 It depends. A lot of knobs were quite superfluous and unnecessary, while others are quite necessary. Take a digital camera for example - a point and shoot digital camera should have one button, and one switch - the rest of the functionality can be hidden in a touch screen menu. more » [gizmodo]
