HDTVs were another hot item this holiday season, but the range of quality can greatly vary. If you ended up getting a no-name jobber, you may want to look at taking it back in favor of a better HDTV. And for top of the line, reasonably sized LCD HDTVs, the Sony KDL-46XBR4 is one of the best.
Without stepping into plasma land, this 46-inch LCD looks great and will out perform any Black Friday special that was picked up for what someone thought was a good deal. You may have to throw in some of your own cash, but this is an upgrade that will last and last, especially with the 1080p resolution. It is available for around $3,000 depending on the retailer. I would go for the 52"
I would argue this is not a good deal. You would be better off buying a 46 in Samsung 61F for $1500 and saving the difference tell a few years have passed and buying another $1500 TV (which will blow away anything you could buy for $4k today)
I bought the 40" XBR4 from Amazon for around $2K and I am very happy with it. It will go in the bedroom when the gigantor OLEDs hit the market. The PS3 is stunning with this screen.
Yes thats what we are getting today, and us lucky Australians get a FREE PS3!!!!!! Thats a deal and a half!
@zakeen: Is it the same model? Aus model is KDL46XBR (no 4 or 5), and says 100Hz motionflow instead of 120Hz. I don't get it :(
XBR5 is with piano black bezel
100Hz is twice the natice refresh rate of pal systems (50hz)
120hz for NTSC (60hz)
This is an ad by the way.!
But a gorgeous set nonetheless :-) Highly recommanded
Nah, I'll stick with the 46" Sony Bravia W3000 model LCD (1080P/24) I picked up for $1645 from Circuit City on Black Friday. Yeah, that wasn't even close to the price everyone else paid for that model. Learn to shop.
@FLskydiver: You guys are comparing Toyota to Lexus here. Despite looking much nicer, the XBR has a 120Hz refresh rate so it handles motion much better, it has a nicer video processor and WAY better black levels. The only Samsung comparible to this is the 4681, though the 4671 comes kinda close. Of course the Geo Metro is cheaper than the Benz, ITS NOT AS GOOD. I sell all the TVs you listed and see them on a daily basis. The 4661 and W3000 are good in their own rights, but no XBR.
