Harman Kardon's Drive + Play is the last portable media adapter needed for the iPod in a vehicle. This device has a small LCD screen that displays what's on your iPod screen. Also included in a large control knob that is very similar to the touchwheel of the iPod. It connects to a vehicle's audio system by FM transmission or through an auxiliary input. The main advantage to using this is not having to put your head down and away from the road to see the iPod. It is available from Target for $70. [Target]

I loved this for the 6 days I had it installed before I totalled my car...
...Should have gotten the newer version with bluetooth for handsfree cell phone.
I'm all over it if it works with the iPhone.
Odds are - it probably doesn't. Bah!
I have it, and love it. Had it professionally installed through the aux and it works fantastically. I have used it on a Ipod Nano (1st and 2nd gen), Ipod Video (30gb), Ipod Classic (60gb), Ipod touch (16gb), and yes THE IPHONE! However it does say when i connect it, that the device is not designed for the iphone, but it works perfectly. And if you have the Bluetooth headset it's even better, because it turns off the music when you receive a call, and you talk on the Bluetooth, therefore no need to play with the volume controls in the car.
I know somewhere you can get it for $2.00 (NOT a typo) new in box. Here's a hint: search the forums on a very SLICK DEAL website.
It works w/ my iPhone w/ no problems... Pretty nice setup, but there are a bunch of bugs you have to eventually get use. It may be worth forking out for the upgraded model (colored screen, bluetooth, wireless controller).
$20
